Khat ‘Arabi: Maghribi Script
Course Info
The Maghribi script was developed in Morocco and has been widely use in the western part of Africa. It has the influence of Kufic script; the earliest script in the Islamic world. The Moroccans developed their own version to suit it more to their culture and lifestyle. The Maghribi script is not limited to only the writings of the Quranic script or other legal and art form but also in their everyday writing.
Its structured yet flexible character makes it easy to follow and learn also makin git one of the best script to learn as a beginner. The first 10 sessions of the course are for beginners. By the end of the module, participants will be able to write short surahs from the Quran and their names in this script. The objective of this course is to introduce another form of Arabic/Islamic calligraphy that asians are not aware of and that is the Maghribi script.
