Course Info
The Riq’ah or Ruq’ah which means a small cloth parchment is a script which originated in the Turkish Ottoman Empire. It was invented by a calligrapher named Abul Fadhl Muhammad Ibn Khazin to facilitate administrative writings. But it was not until a classical Ottoman calligrapher named Mehmet Izzet had laid out the rules and principles of Riq’ah, that the script finally reached its finest form.
Riq’ah in this modern era is predominantly used for normal everyday writing in the Arab world. It is considered to be versatile, straightforward and beginner-friendly script.
